“One thing I ask of the Lord this I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, that I may gaze on the loveliness of the Lord and contemplate his temple.” ~ PS27

This is the 1000th blog post for In the Silence…  With prayer and discernment, I have decided to take a break from writing this daily blog.  You are welcome to visit and reread some of your favorite posts over the past few years.  Thank you for reading and praying along with me.  In the silence, seeking the Lord all the days of my life…

“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall be ever in my mouth. Taste and see how good the Lord is; blessed the man who takes refuge in him.” ~ PS34  Tasting something new takes a bit of courage.  How will you know if you like it, unless you take a bite?

In the silence, taste the goodness of the Lord…

“The high priest rose up and all his companions, that is, the party of the Sadducees, and, filled with jealousy, laid hands upon the Apostles and put them in the public jail. But during the night, the angel of the Lord opened the doors of the prison, led them out, and said, ‘Go and take your place in the temple area, and tell the people everything about this life.’” ~ ACTS5:17-26  How amazing to have Angels opening doors to lead the Apostles!  Yet, I know the Lord has blessed me with Angels who opened doors for me along my journey.  Take time today to recall all the doors the Lord opened for you.

In the silence, the Lord opens doors easily…

“The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they had everything in common. With great power the Apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. There was no needy person among them, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds of the sale, and put them at the feet of the Apostles, and they were distributed to each according to need.” ~ ACTS4:32-37

In the silence, support those who bear witness to Christ…

“The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” ~ JN3:1-8  The spring storms have arrived in our area.  Last night, there were thunderstorms and downpours of rain.  I was grateful to have the shelter of a safe comfortable home.  Can you find the blessings during the storms?  In the silence, God is our shelter…

“When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tucked in his garment, for he was lightly clad, and jumped into the sea.” ~ JN21:1-14  Peter wears his heart on his sleeve.  He just expresses his emotions physically; there is no second guessing what he is thinking.  Do you express your faith in action?

In the silence, jump…

“The disciples of Jesus recounted what had taken place along the way, and how they had come to recognize him in the breaking of bread. While they were still speaking about this, he stood in their midst and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ But they were startled and terrified and thought that they were seeing a ghost. Then he said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do questions arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.’” ~ LK24:35-48

In the silence, greet the risen Jesus…

“As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus gave the impression that he was going on farther. But they urged him, ‘Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.’ So he went in to stay with them. And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized Jesus, but he vanished from their sight.” ~ LK24:13-35  One of my favorite sites on pilgrimage in the Holy Land was Emmaus.  We arrived just before sunset, and walked in the garden around the Church, overlooking the hillside.  Our group experienced a calm peaceful evening as we celebrated Mass together, and our hearts were burning within us with joy.

In the silence, encounter Christ…

“Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and our shield. May your kindness, O Lord, be upon us who have put our hope in you.” ~ PS33

Have you put your hope in the Lord?

In the silence, my soul waits with hope…

“Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce the news to his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.’” ~ MT28:8-15  The Lord is risen, Alleluia!

In the silence, the jubilant announcement…
