“One thing I ask of the Lord this I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, that I may gaze on the loveliness of the Lord and contemplate his temple.” ~ PS27

This is the 1000th blog post for In the Silence…  With prayer and discernment, I have decided to take a break from writing this daily blog.  You are welcome to visit and reread some of your favorite posts over the past few years.  Thank you for reading and praying along with me.  In the silence, seeking the Lord all the days of my life…

“Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce the news to his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.’” ~ MT28:8-15  The Lord is risen, Alleluia!

I met my Spiritual Director this week, near the end of our meeting together; he said I have an underlying Joy.  I reflected on his words the past few days.  Somehow I didn’t notice that Joy had returned to me, after soldiering through difficulties of the last year.  I thought it was just a change in the weather, to some warm sunny days that had lifted my Spirits.  The more I reflect, the more I can see that there has been a shift back to Joy.  I am grateful that I made it though this harsh winter, ready for Spring!

“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall be ever in my mouth. Let my soul glory in the Lord; the lowly will hear me and be glad. Glorify the Lord with me; let us together extol his name. I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Look to him that you may be radiant with joy, and your faces may not blush with shame. When the poor one called out, the Lord heard, and from all his distress he saved him” ~ PS34

“I proclaim you, O Lord, among the nations, and I will sing praise to your name” ~ PS18

What brings you joy?  I experience praising God shifts my mind away from my troubles, and frees me to experience more joy.

“In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, ‘Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.’ But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his Kingdom there will be no end.’”~ LK1:26-38  In the silence, celebrate the Prince of Peace…

“Ezra said further: ‘Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks, and allot portions to those who had nothing prepared; for today is holy to our Lord. Do not be saddened this day, for rejoicing in the Lord must be your strength!’” ~ NEH8:1-12  Each day is holy.  What ways do you remember and celebrate God’s provision?

“Fill us at daybreak with your kindness, that we may shout for joy and gladness all our days. And may the gracious care of the Lord our God be ours; prosper the work of our hands for us! Prosper the work of our hands!” ~ PS90  Are you confident in God’s care for you?  Synonyms for the word confident are; sure, certain, positive, and secure.  I notice that when people are not confident in God’s love, they struggle to be confident in other areas.

“Jesus took Peter, John, and James and went up a mountain to pray. While he was praying his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white. And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory.” ~ LK9:28-36  What a wonderful moment in the Gospel!  Have you had a transfiguration?
