“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall be ever in my mouth. Taste and see how good the Lord is; blessed the man who takes refuge in him.” ~ PS34  Tasting something new takes a bit of courage.  How will you know if you like it, unless you take a bite?

In the silence, taste the goodness of the Lord…

“Simon Peter said to him, ‘Master, where are you going?’”~ JN13  It may seem odd that right when Jesus was ready to complete his mission, those very close to him didn’t even get it.  How have you been like Simon Peter in misunderstanding the Lord?  Ask for clarity from the Lord, and learn to accept things that you don’t fully understand.

“Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will” ~ PS40  How do you respond to God’s invitation?  Do you question your own motives in following God?  You do not have to worry about following God perfectly.  God knows all about you.  Just respond with your whole heart and God will make your path clear.

“Israel loved Joseph best of all his sons, for he was the child of his old age; and he had made him a long tunic. When his brothers saw that their father loved him best of all his sons, they hated him so much that they would not even greet him.” ~ GEN37:3-4  Does someone’s faith in God make you jealous?  How can you change your mind?  God gives each of us exactly what we need for our journey.  Rather than be jealous, pray and ask God for help.

“Let the words of my mouth and the thought of my heart find favor before you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” ~ PS19   I was at a meeting yesterday where another minister said something completely inappropriate.  It shocked me that those words came out of his mouth.  When do I say inappropriate words?  Today, let us choose our words more carefully before speaking.

“Peter began to say to Jesus, ‘We have given up everything and followed you.’” ~ MK10:28-31  There is truth to the statement Peter made so boldly.  He gave up everything.  How much have you given up to follow Jesus?

“Cast your care upon the Lord, and he will support you” ~ PS55

Are you able to cast your troubles on the Lord?  What keeps you from letting go?

quick to hear

“Know this, my dear brothers and sisters: everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger for anger does not accomplish the righteousness of God. Therefore, put away all filth and evil excess and humbly welcome the word that has been planted in you and is able to save your souls. Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves.” ~ JAS1:19-27

“Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.’” ~ MK6:1-6   A prophet is an individual inspired by God to lead or teach the people.  Do you listen to prophetic wisdom?

“And Jesus taught them at length in parables, and in the course of his instruction he said to them, ‘Hear this! A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path…’” ~ MK4:1-20  Jesus points out in the parable, that some paths are rocky ground, and others have rich soil.  The lessons of your Spiritual journey toward God are unique to you.  A Spiritual Director can help guide you to navigate your route.  Progress takes time, faithfulness, and action.  Do you bear rich fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundred fold?
