“The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” ~ JN3:1-8  The spring storms have arrived in our area.  Last night, there were thunderstorms and downpours of rain.  I was grateful to have the shelter of a safe comfortable home.  Can you find the blessings during the storms?  In the silence, God is our shelter…

“I believe that I shall see the bounty of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord with courage; be stouthearted, and wait for the Lord.” ~ PS27  Do you notice the bounty in all that the Lord has provided for you?  This week, keep a list of every little thing you are grateful for in your life right now.

In the silence, grateful for the blessings I have received….

“Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our fathers, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever; and blessed is your holy and glorious name, praiseworthy and exalted above all for all ages. Blessed are you in the temple of your holy glory, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever. Blessed are you on the throne of your kingdom, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever. Blessed are you who look into the depths from your throne upon the cherubim; praiseworthy and exalted above all forever. Blessed are you in the firmament of heaven, praiseworthy and glorious forever.” ~ DN3

In the silence, praise God…

“The Lord is gracious and merciful” ~ PS145  This is one of my favorite Psalms.  The Lord has been generous to me with kindness, compassion, and Grace.  Do you have a favorite Scripture passage?  Take time today to meditate on God’s Word.

In the silence, grateful for the Lord’s graciousness…

“…take care and be earnestly on your guard not to forget the things which your own eyes have seen, nor let them slip from your memory as long as you live, but teach them to your children and to your children’s children.” ~ DT4:1,5-9  Often, people are looking for the next miracle to believe that God is real.  They seem to forget all those marvels that they already experienced.  Write down three ways your eyes have seen the power of God.

In the silence, don’t forget God…

“The greatest among you must be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” ~ MT23:1-12  How many times have you heard this Scripture passage?  What does it mean to be a servant to others?

In the silence, reflect on ways you serve…

“Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asked for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asked for a fish? If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.’” ~ MT7:7-12  God is a generous giver.  In the silence, grateful for blessings received…

“How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God” ~ PS84  This season, the winter weather has been very cold, and our area has seen much more snow and ice than usual.  Have you been spending more days at home?  Where do you dwell in the winter?

In the silence, dwelling with the Lord…

“O Lord, how many are my adversaries! Many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, ‘There is no salvation for him in God.’ Lord, rise up and save me. But you, O Lord, are my shield; my glory, you lift up my head! When I call out to the Lord, he answers me from his holy mountain. When I lie down in sleep, I wake again, for the Lord sustains me. I fear not the myriads of people arrayed against me on every side” ~ PS3  Some days it feels like everything is working against us.  In those moments, remember God’s provision.  Recall all the ways God has sustained you in the past.

In the silence, God answers me…

coffee or tea

I was headed for the door after Sunday Mass, when a dear friend tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I had time for a cup of coffee.  We shared stories together over tea, coffee, and scones.  When we stopped and looked at the clock, two hours had gone by.  Two hours of uninterrupted visiting, helped us both feel refreshed.  We left the coffee shop feeling grateful, and remembering that we are not alone on the Spiritual journey.  Who could you spend time visiting over a cup of coffee or tea?  “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” ~ MT18:20

In the silence, call on a Spiritual friend…
