“Jesus told Martha, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’”~ JN11:1-45  We believe in the resurrection of Jesus.  This makes the whole story make sense.  Can you imagine how his close companions felt, since they did not have all the information?

In the silence, Jesus is the resurrection and the life…

“How can you believe, when you accept praise from one another and do not seek the praise that comes from the only God?” ~ JN5:31-47  It has been a hard lesson for me to learn that only feedback from God should guide me, not the good opinion of people.  Seek the praise of God, not others, and you will find the peace that surpasses understanding.

In the silence, seek God…

“The Lord is gracious and merciful” ~ PS145  This is one of my favorite Psalms.  The Lord has been generous to me with kindness, compassion, and Grace.  Do you have a favorite Scripture passage?  Take time today to meditate on God’s Word.

In the silence, grateful for the Lord’s graciousness…

“God is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in distress. Therefore we fear not, though the earth be shaken and mountains plunge into the depths of the sea.” ~ PS46

Are you trusting God with something difficult?  God is strong enough to take it.

In the silence, God strengthens…

“Thus says the Lord: Lo, I am about to create new heavens and a new earth; the things of the past shall not be remembered or come to mind. Instead, there shall always be rejoicing and happiness in what I create…” ~ IS65:17-21  I spent this past weekend on a silent retreat.  I embraced the stillness like a welcome friend.  At one point, in the quiet I heard a woodpecker happily pecking on a nearby tree, and envisioned God knocking on my heart, asking to enter in.  No matter where you are on your Spiritual journey, God is waiting to create something new.  In the silence, inviting God within…

“Not as man sees does God see, because man sees the appearance but the Lord looks into the heart” ~ 1SAM16  Do you remember your strengths or your weaknesses?  What do you focus on most?  Just for today, reflect on all of your gifts, talents, strengths, and good qualities.  At the end of the day, have a conversation with God concerning what you have learned about yourself.

“He will come to us like the rain, like spring rain that waters the earth” ~ HOS6:1-6   We have rain in the local weather forecast.  Spring showers have arrived for another season, washing away the grime of winter.  The rain nourishes the plants, and promotes new growth.

In the silence, welcoming the spring rain…

“…take care and be earnestly on your guard not to forget the things which your own eyes have seen, nor let them slip from your memory as long as you live, but teach them to your children and to your children’s children.” ~ DT4:1,5-9  Often, people are looking for the next miracle to believe that God is real.  They seem to forget all those marvels that they already experienced.  Write down three ways your eyes have seen the power of God.

In the silence, don’t forget God…

“Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will” ~ PS40  How do you respond to God’s invitation?  Do you question your own motives in following God?  You do not have to worry about following God perfectly.  God knows all about you.  Just respond with your whole heart and God will make your path clear.

In the silence, here I am…

“Send forth your light and your fidelity; they shall lead me on and bring me to your holy mountain, to your dwelling-place.” ~ PS43  Are you in front of God, or is God in front of you?  Who is the Leader?  During your prayer time, reflect on who is leading.

In the silence, lead me Lord…
